It has reached that time when I ran out of all my necessary hair care products, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try out some new products. I have decided to try out Alikay Naturals’ hair care products.Â
I thought buying a bundle of their products would be best since it provided everything I needed for my hair care routine. So, follow my experience after using this product for two months on my type 4 hair.
Alikay Naturals Healthy Hair Regimen Collection 8OZ
Within this bundle, I received a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, leave-in condition, hair butter (parfait), and two oils. I had the option to choose what kind of collection of products I wanted in the bundle. I decided to go with the shea-honey & sage and black soap shampoo.
Everything was full size except for the Shine Crave Hair Glosser, which was travel size (2oz).
Essential 17 Hair Growth Oil
I don’t believe that an oil can necessarily make your hair grow, but they do provide nutrients that your hair can benefit from. With that being said, this hair growth oil is nothing new and is similar to other hair growth oils I have seen and used.Â
It has a variety of oils and plant extracts mixed together. What is nice about this mixture is that there are no weird extra ingredients (ex. fragrance), considering natural oils should be the main ingredients. With this blend of oils, it is not surprising that the first thing you smell is tea tree oil.Â
Tea tree oil has a strong smell that it becomes difficult to smell any other oil when they are mixed together.Â
As for the application, I would say that the nozzle tip is perfect for applying the product straight to the roots. I always wonder why all hair oil products don’t use a nozzle tip since it makes everything easier and less messy (but it will still be messy).Â
I used this product once a week as a hot oil treatment and as my detangling/pre-poo product, but the product directions state that you should use it every other night.Â
Since I don’t like putting oil on my scalp that often, I decided to use it as a hot oil treatment and for detangling my hair. It provided a great start to my wash day by adding some shine to my hair.Â
Overall this product is great, and if you are looking for a hair oil, I would recommend this one.Â

Moisturizing Black Soap Shampoo
If you are looking for a more natural shampoo, then this is perfect for you.Â
What I really liked about this shampoo is the nozzle applicator. I often wished that my previous shampoos had a nozzle applicator because it makes it easier to only apply the shampoo to my scalp and roots.Â
With the nozzle applicator, I can ensure that each section of my hair gets a decent amount of shampoo.Â
Although the nozzle applicator is great, there is a downside to using it. The shampoo is very liquidy and it is very easy to squeeze too much of the product onto your scalp. As soon as you tilt the nozzle towards your scalp, the shampoo starts flowing out.Â
From experience, I wouldn’t recommend doing a middle section because the shampoo will drip down towards your mouth and eyes before you have the chance to catch it. When parting your hair, it is best to part your hair down the middle so that your sections are on the side.Â
Tip:Â
When applying the shampoo to the scalp, I found it best that you apply it on top of the section and on the sides, then add more if necessary. Also, make sure you are holding the bottle at a diagonal angle to avoid over-usage. You may not need more than two to three squirts depending on the size of the section of hair
As for the shampoo itself, it feels cool when it is applied, and it has an earthy smell. This shampoo lathers and suds up a lot if you end up using too much. I think you shouldn’t expect much suds until your second wash.Â
Since it is a moisturizing shampoo, you should not expect a deep clean. Personally, this shampoo doesn’t work for me since I need a shampoo that can clean my scalp fully.Â
Too often I was dealing with product build-up after just a couple of days from washing it. I will say that my hair did not feel stripped of its oils, and it didn’t make my detangling process longer.Â
Considering it is a liquid shampoo it did not last as long as regular shampoos. I would say this shampoo lasted about two months for me, and I wash my hair weekly.Â
I would only recommend this product if you deal with dry hair or dry scalp, but you will need to pair this shampoo with a clarifying shampoo to get a thorough clean.

Caribbean Coconut Milk Conditioner
I prefer my conditioners to provide a lot of slip, and this conditioner did not do that for me. Usually, most coconut-based products don’t work well with my hair, so this was expected.Â
If your hair adores coconut oil and you have type 1 or 2 hair, then this conditioner is better suited for you.

Honey and Sage Deep Conditioner
This is a wonderful deep conditioner. This is what I expect when a product states that it contains natural or organic ingredients. When opening the product you can see and feel chunks of honey (assuming that it is honey) and the color of it looks natural.Â
Due to its natural ingredients, it also has an earthy smell to it, but the honey definitely stands out above all.
It is not a deep conditioner that will make your hair feel smooth and supple or provide a lot of slip, but it still makes the detangling process easier. This product most definitely gave my hair shine. This is definitely a product for low porosity hair since honey is a humectant which is great for that porosity type. If you are looking for a treatment that will make your hair appear shinier, then this is the deep conditioner for you.

Lemongrass Leave-In Conditioner
A liquidy leave-in conditioner that feels like it does not fully moisturize the hair. I prefer products that define my curls, helps makes my hair feel softer, and make my styles last longer. This leave-in was not able to do that for me.Â
Also, the spray applicator is kind of inconvenient because as I was using this product and the parfait, my fingers were becoming too slippery to press on the spray applicator. I had to hold the bottle on my shoulder for stability to get a decent spray.Â
I think the spray applicator should be a squeeze one and not a push one.Â
Another thing I am not a fan of is the #yellow ingredient. Considering it is supposed to resemble liquid gold, I guess that is why it contains this ingredient.Â
This product is great for when you want to lightly refresh the hair in between wash days. As for the smell of the conditioner, I would say it is a pleasant lemon smell.

Moisture Rich Hair Parfait
This is my favorite product out of the whole bundle. This parfait is pretty much a whip of multiple oils and shea butter. That is why this product is so thick, but when you massage the parfait in your hands, it becomes smooth and oily.Â
The best part is the smell. It smells like flowers and essential oils, and it’s just amazing. I used this product as a sealant when moisturizing my hair, so I would use this product after the Lemongrass Leave-In Conditioner. With this product, you don’t need to use any other oil product because it provides a lot of shine.Â
It may be tempting to use a lot of this product, but you really don’t need to use too much of it unless you like oily hair. You know that type of oily hair when you end up with oily fingers by lightly touching your hair. Well, that will be you if you use too much.Â
Since this is a thick product, I would say it is better suited for type 3 or 4 hair, high-density hair, or those with thick hair strands. If you need a product that will give you some shine, then this is the product for you so you can see that shine last a couple of days. Â

Shine Crave Hair Glosser
I only used this product when rehydrating my hair or unraveling my twists for a twist-out. This product did provide a nice shine when my hair needed it most. This glosser is best for braid-outs, twist-outs, and other hairstyles to avoid too much frizz.

My Overall ReviewÂ
These are good products. Some products were better than others, but they did help keep my hair moisturized, which is very important when it comes to healthy hair.Â
Some of these products can be used on any hair type, porosity, thickness, or density.Â
The longevity of these products also varies. The shampoo didn’t last long, but the leave-in conditioner, both of the oils, and the parfait did. Considering I still have a few more uses for most of these products.Â
My scalp did begin to feel like it was never clean, but my hair did look and feel healthy and moisturized.Â
I will definitely repurchase the parfait when I run out, so do you think you will give these products a try?
